About Me

Hello,

My name is Julie Churchwell.  I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and artist.  I love all of my vocations, and am grateful for each of them. I enjoy being outdoors, teaching, working hard, gardening, and making things beautiful.  I was raised in the mountains of Montana, and those mountains still inspire me today.

The love of the mountains, mountain roads, and a particular life event are the inspiration for the name of my company.  There was a season of rough climbing for my family, and I am grateful to say that God brought us along a mountain road, and even though the climb was rough, the vista was beautiful.  Be encouraged my friends, there is beauty in the journey.

About Mountain Road Studio

Drawing, doodling and hand lettering has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Beauty is essential for my life, and it is my desire to add beauty to the lives of others.

Education is also a passion for me. My degree in Elementary Education has aided me not only in teaching my own children, but also inspiring other students.  In the fall of 2016 I read a book by Mona Brookes called Drawing With Children, and this book changed the way I see art education, inspiring me to learn more about Mona’s method.  Early in 2017 I had the fantastic opportunity to do a comprehensive internship with Mona in Berkeley, California and it was there that my passion for art and ability to educate collided, and Mountain Road Studio was born.
